Volunteers Needed for Eurofest Swiss Booth

Hi All,

Barbara Wirsching is now responsible for recruiting volunteers to man the Swiss booth at the Eurofest.  She asked me to send out a reminder of the need for help:

The booth is an important way to communicate information about Switzerland and its traditions.

The Eurofest Swiss booth needs volunteers for 2- to 3-hour shifts from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for both May 31st and June 1st.  Two people are needed for each shift.

The tasks include distributing materials, stamping the Eurofest children's passport, etc.

Wearing Swiss Tracht or Choetili would be appreciated.

I believe that presence at the display booth it is a small contribution to proudly represent Switzerland and its traditions.  Please help out.

You can contact Barbara at bwirsching@shaw.ca or reply to me.

Message from our President

Hi, Everyone,
We are getting really close to our concert.  I think we really need to buckle down and practice our material at home. It will be a waste of the choir's and audience's time and money if we sing off key or don't know the words.
When Marie-Louise was President, we all agreed to a "NO TALKING DURING PRACTICE" rule.  Could we please honour that,  If we are talking, we will not be able to hear an instruction or perhaps not be able to focus as the conductor would like. We can still direct Important comments to the whole choir.

I believe we all are happy to see one another.  If we need time maybe we can stay past 9:30 to chat; we do not need to vacate the room until 10:00, right?
Another reminder from Jacques Goldschmidt came ,  The European Festival needs our # of choir members PLUS he wants to know "WHO WILL MAN THE SWISS TENT"  It won't be me, I will do 4 hours with Rolf on Saturday but I have no more time
Ciao for now
See you all Thursday

Subject: Fwd: Delegates and Delegate Meeting for USSSPC 28th Sängerfest
From:
Date: Fri, 14 Feb 2014 13:55:42 -0500

Dear USSSPC Choir Presidents and Others,

Per the email below, I requested that you provide me with the names of your two delegates and one alternate for the 28th Pacific Coast Swiss Singing and Yodeling Festival. To date, my records have only Enzian Ladies Choir - Tacoma, and Swiss Singing Society Harmonie - Los Angeles responding.

The by laws of the USSSPC stipulate that any member society desiring to host the next festival mail a letter to the president of the executive committee and each delegate not later than the end of February prior to the meeting of the delegates.

I am in receipt of the attached letter from San Joaquin Valley Swiss
Echoes applying to host the festival in 2017. Annabel Murata,
president of the Swiss Echoes has left it up to my discretion how the delegates should be notified.

By this email, I am notifying the delegates through the society presidents of the application to host the 29th Pacific Coast Swiss Singing and Yodeling Festival.

I would appreciate it if the balance of the societies who have
not responded would give me your delegate names and email and snail mail addresses. Thank you for your attention to this request.

Best regards,

Greg Vesey, USSSPC President

Subject: Delegates and Delegate Meeting for USSSPC 28th Sängerfest

Greetings Singers:

I see I missed a deadline of our USSSPC Constitution. It's not the first and probably won't be the last. I was supposed to have requested from the member societies by the end of August 2013 the names of two delegates and one alternate to represent you at the delegates meeting during Sängerfest. Please accept this email as my request to do so.

Attached is a copy of the applicable sections of the USSSPC Constitution and Bylaws pertaining to selection of delegates and notice of the next delegates meeting. The delegates meeting will be held on Sunday, July 13th, in the Torcello/Burano Room of the Hotel Murano, 1320 Broadway Plaza, Tacoma, Washington at 7:30am.

Also attached is a copy of the USSSPC Bylaws setting forth the mandatory agenda. If any delegate or society proposes to make an amendment to the Constitution or Bylaws, I am requiring that the
proposed amendment be submitted to me in writing no later than June 1, 2014 in order to be considered to be added to the delegates meeting agenda.

Best regards,

Greg Vesey, USSSPC President

Sängerfest 2014 - Tacoma, Bulletin #3

Greetings Swiss Friends,
[Below] is bulletin #3 which is being posted to our website on the Performers Info page. Please circulate this bulletin to all of your members and interested followers. As mentioned in the bulletin, it would greatly aid our finances if we could get more badge money coming in. Also there has been a lull in the Souvenir Book ad orders. I am sure that there are many of you
out there who are planning on submitting and ad or tribute. If you could communicate your plans to Vicki Imhof Nickinovich at Sängerfestbook@hotmail.com , it would really help with her planning and preparation of the book.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Greg Vesey, festival president

Bulletin #3
February 12, 2014

Progress continues to be on track in planning and organizing Sängerfest 2014 – Tacoma. Orders for badges are starting to come in, however, we would appreciate it if more non singers who will be paying for their own badges would order and pay for them now to help with the advance costs of putting on the festival.

We now have the Grand Concert song pronunciations on our website available as an MP3 on the Songbook Support page. Additionally, we are offering banner advertising prominently displayed on our website homepage for $500, as well as festival sponsorship at various levels.

The Souvenir Book is being produced by Vicki Imhof Nickinovich and Margo Reichlin. Information and applications for ads in the book are linked on our website on the Ads-Tributes page. A concerted effort is being made to have a special section in the book dedicated to family tributes commemorating our Swiss relatives and friends who have meant so much to the preservation of our Swiss heritage. A request was sent to all member choir presidents on January 27th asking them to submit the group choir photo as well as individual photo’s of the club president and director along with the choir history by March 1st.

We have set the Grand Concert ticket price at $35, and the link to order tickets from our website will be posted soon. There will also be a form available to order tickets by mail. For guests who choose not to purchase a badge, we will have the availability to purchase advance tickets to all of the Sängerfest functions. These will also be available through the website or by mail. Attached is a price schedule for the individual functions.

Our director, Kurt McKee, and I are scheduling our visits to the choirs, with our first visit scheduled to Swiss Singing Society Harmonie – Los Angeles on February 17th. We ask that the choirs be flexible in their scheduling since Kurt has limited leave time available.

A giant Thank You goes out to Lori Nichols McCrabb. She came up with the idea of offering sponsorship of the souvenir bag and the items contained therein to anyone who was interested in contributing. She has garnered over $6,500 in donations to pay for the bags, badges, and the twelve items (at this point) in the bag that will be given to all badge holders.

We are still working on the logistics of how we will organize the Kinder Chörli, and will be outlining our plan as we visit the member choirs. Our intent is to invite children from all of the USSSPC clubs to participate, but the coordination of this endeavor is complicated. Please bear with us as we develop a workable plan for this most worthwhile undertaking.

Transportation to the Hotel Murano from the airport, bus station, or train station will not be provided. We will however, put together an information sheet on available shuttle services along with their contact information and pricing. Shuttle bus transportation for badges holders will be provided to the loading dock for the cruise as well as the Swiss Park on Saturday.

With just five months to go until Sängerfest, the excitement (and tension) is mounting. The support of the Swiss Sportmen’s Club of Tacoma, the Enzian Ladies Choir – Tacoma, and the Swiss Men’s Society of Tacoma as well as all of the USSSPC member choirs is so greatly appreciated as we make the final preparations.

Best regards,

Greg Vesey
